Senior DevOps / Systems Engineer (AWS)

Location: Fully remote, based in the United Kingdom; rotating 24/7 on-call schedule, initially two weeks in every four and later two weeks in every six.

Salary: £80,000–£90,000 per annum; the role summary also states up to £80,000.

What you will do

• Manage, monitor, and improve a production AWS estate, including EC2, load balancers, and VPC infrastructure.
• Design, maintain, and improve infrastructure with Terraform and Ansible.
• Write and tune WAF rules across Akamai and Cloudflare and manage CDN infrastructure.
• Support and improve CI/CD pipelines used by development teams.
• Maintain nginx, Redis, Apache, MariaDB/RDS, Postgres, and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch infrastructure.
• Monitor and respond to incidents, identify root causes, coordinate with relevant teams, automate repetitive tasks with Python and Bash, and participate in the rotating 24/7 on-call schedule.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in a DevOps or Systems Administration role.
• Strong Linux systems administration experience in a production environment.
• Strong cloud architecture experience and knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, load balancers, and VPC.
• Experience with nginx, Redis, Apache, and MariaDB/RDS/Postgres.
• Strong Terraform experience.
• Experience with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
• Strong Python and Bash scripting skills for automation.
• Experience managing CDN and WAF infrastructure, particularly Akamai.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
