Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Location: Remote within the United Kingdom

Salary: £70,000–£80,000 per year

What you will do

• Identify and implement improvements to platform infrastructure in collaboration with the Head of Platform and Head of SRE.
• Improve platform maturity, including high availability, testing, and disaster recovery plans.
• Enhance CI/CD pipelines and establish reliable deployment patterns.
• Support incident response, resolution, post-mortems, and retrospectives.
• Share knowledge through technical talks, team learning, and comprehensive playbooks and runbooks.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in DevOps engineering and operating large-scale platforms.
• Extensive experience with distributed cloud systems, especially Amazon Web Services.
• Extensive experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Understanding of relational databases and cloud database services such as AWS Aurora.
• Experience with messaging, distributed asynchronous workloads, Nginx or similar technologies, and observability tools such as Datadog or Prometheus.
• Good written and spoken English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with enterprise solutions running at scale.
• Familiarity with Kanban and agile development processes.
• Experience with Docker and containerisation.
• Knowledge of software practices such as refactoring, clean code, domain-driven design, and test-driven development.
