Staff Mechanical Failure Analysis Engineer (HDD)

What you will do

• Perform HDD teardown failure analysis for customers in China.
• Own the mechanical failure-analysis process and related equipment.
• Document observations and conclusions through images, teardown analysis, and possible failure causes.
• Discuss failure-analysis findings and communicate the next course of analysis.
• Maintain housekeeping, equipment maintenance logs, and calibration schedules for laboratory equipment.
• Provide information on tool and process improvements related to failure analysis and interact across organizational levels.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or an equivalent field. Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
• 2–5 years of experience in the hard disk drive or a related industry.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Hands-on laboratory experience and ability to perform analysis using high-power microscopes and precision equipment.

Nice to have

• Basic knowledge of hard disk drives and the head/disk interface.
• Familiarity with Raman, FTIR, SEM, and TOF-SIMS analytical techniques.
• Familiarity with electrical failure-analysis methodology and interpretation of findings.
• Data-analysis skills.
