Principal Applications Engineer (HVDC Data Center Power Applications)

What you will do

• Design, develop, optimize, and validate reference designs and application boards for HVDC data center power applications.
• Create schematics, select components, and collaborate on PCB layouts to optimize performance, efficiency, cost, thermal behavior, and reliability.
• Perform electrical, thermal, and system-level validation, including efficiency analysis, switching characterization, transient response testing, thermal profiling, and EMI/EMC pre-compliance evaluation.
• Provide technical support for customer designs and sales activities, including troubleshooting, design-in support, and customer engagements.
• Create application notes, design guides, simulation models, user manuals, and web-based technical content.
• Collaborate with Marketing, R&D, and System Architects on requirements, use cases, product opportunities, and roadmap development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 5–8 years of experience in application engineering, hardware design, and power electronics, including reference designs or evaluation boards.
• Hands-on experience with data center power supply designs, HV power distribution, and power conversion topologies such as LLC, DAB, CLLC, multilevel converters, and paralleling systems.
• Experience with PCB design and layout using Altium and KiCad, plus simulation and engineering tools including MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice, SIMPLIS, PLECS, thermal analysis, and EMC compatibility tools.
• Experience using power analyzers, high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, thermal imaging cameras, power supplies, and related equipment.
• Business-fluent written and spoken English, with strong analytical, system-level, presentation, technical writing, and customer-support skills.
