Principal Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering (HDD)

What you will do

• Manage new product transfers, including DET measurements from NPI and Development and test-module transfers from the US and China.
• Support high-volume manufacturing and product line volume ramps in collaboration with NPI, R&D, Sputter, and Sputter Process teams.
• Monitor DET results, tune sputter processes, qualify test methodologies, and derive DET specifications through mass production.
• Plan tester capacity, manage GR&R and tester correlation, and support production monitoring and SMO activities.
• Analyze internal component data, drive-build data, and component-to-HDD correlations to improve product performance and predictability.
• Perform benchmarking, reference generation, head screening, failure analysis, product qualification, and comparison activities; guide technicians in daily work.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics.
• Individual contributor role in manufacturing engineering.
• Experience with product, process, or testing activities in a manufacturing environment involving Slider-HGA, Media, or HDD is preferred, with a minimum of 4 to 5 years.
• Knowledge of magnetic recording is preferred.
• Knowledge of component-to-HDD correlation analysis is preferred.
• Responsibility for safe work practices and compliance with safety and health rules.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of gauge studies and statistical or correlation analysis.
• Experience with C++, Python, or Excel macros.
