Director of Finance (Chemicals)

Location: Hybrid role in Bellevue, WA, US; nearest major market is Seattle.

Salary: $190,000–$220,000 annually, plus a targeted annual company bonus.

What you will do

• Lead accounting, financial operations, credit, sales tax, and FP&A functions across North America, EMEA, and Mexico.
• Own month-end close, balance sheet reviews, reconciliations, internal controls, audit support, compliance, and the quality of financial execution.
• Establish preparer and reviewer processes to identify and resolve errors, unusual items, and unsupported assumptions before CFO review.
• Direct forecasting, the annual operating plan, and management reporting while explaining results and identifying risks, opportunities, and actionable insights.
• Develop and coach managers, establish decision rights and accountability, and build finance team capability.
• Partner with business leaders and Univar Solutions finance teams, and support the CFO with strategic initiatives and complex financial decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited four-year institution.
• 10+ years of progressive Finance or Accounting experience.
• 5+ years of people leadership experience, including developing and coaching managers.
• Strong accounting, financial control, analytical, process design, decision-rights, and preparer/reviewer control skills.
• Ability to influence and collaborate with executive and finance leadership teams, connect operations to financial results and business plans, and communicate issues, implications, and recommendations.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including strong Excel skills.
• Experience with accounting systems.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, adapt leadership style, interact effectively with global employees, customers, and suppliers, and demonstrate cultural awareness and professionalism.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment, manage multiple priorities, remain composed under pressure, and respond constructively to challenges and feedback.

Nice to have

• Experience leading accounting, controllership, FP&A, financial operations, or tax functions.
• CPA and/or CMA designation.
• Microsoft Great Plains experience.
