New Business Planning Senior Specialist (Electrical Distribution)

Location: Hybrid in Wildomar, California, US; employees must work and reside in California and report to an SCE facility for a set number of days. The role includes up to 25% travel and field work throughout the SCE service territory.

What you will do

• Conduct long-term grid import planning analyses, transmission interconnection assessments, power flow studies, and economic analyses for short- and long-term distribution system plans.
• Develop electrical distribution plans, identify required resources, and provide construction cost estimates and service options.
• Manage large design projects from inception through construction completion, including scope, timing, budget, policies, procedures, rates, and electrical design compliance.
• Perform field inspections, verify project compliance with approved plans, and assess regional distribution system capabilities against planning criteria.
• Monitor reliability targets and analyze outages for causes, trends, and duration.
• Coordinate with internal personnel, organizations, customers, agencies, and other stakeholders; provide training and workload support when needed.

Requirements

• Three or more years of experience in electrical utility distribution, transmission, or telecommunication design; distribution, transmission, or telecommunication line construction; or an engineering discipline.
• Valid Class C Driver’s License.
• Protection of physical, financial, cybersecurity, customer, proprietary, medical, and other sensitive information with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Nice to have

• Ability to apply engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
• Experience determining scope of work, method of service, and overhead/underground construction methods.
• Proficiency with wind and pole loading applications, drafting systems, GIS, or related design systems such as SPIDA Calc, Autodesk AUD, cGIS, SAP, or equivalents.
• Experience preparing work orders, construction plans, or project packages.
• Ability to manage multiple technical or customer projects under shifting priorities.
• Cross-functional collaboration, strong written and verbal communication, leadership or mentorship, and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience managing customer or stakeholder interactions in technical, construction, or utility environments.
