Salary: $140,000–$238,000 annually in the Bay Area; an alternative California range is $133,000–$226,000 annually.

What you will do

• Develop technical strategies for integrating data centers, distributed energy resources, microgrids, flexible loads, and load-management technologies with the electric grid.
• Evaluate the impacts of emerging data center loads on transmission and distribution systems, including reliability, resilience, planning, and interconnection requirements.
• Lead research and development initiatives, engineering projects, and programs involving innovative and complex solutions with significant financial impact.
• Mentor and direct engineers and engineering technicians, and collaborate with partner functions to identify client needs and opportunities.
• Oversee technical systems and prototype assembly, testing, analysis, inspections, failure investigations, and performance evaluations across laboratory, field, and desktop applications.
• Prepare project scopes, schedules, budgets, bid proposals, client presentations, recommendations, and expert technical opinions for varied audiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in a discipline related to the assignment, such as mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering.
• At least 7 years of related experience.
• Expertise in engineering research and testing concepts, theories, practices, methods, and techniques in the area of specialty.
• Knowledge of current and emerging technologies used in technical testing.
• Thorough understanding of quality assurance and control concepts and practices.
• Expertise in investigative and analytical problem-solving methods and techniques.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills for monitoring technical tests and presenting findings to audiences ranging from field operations to senior leadership.
• Project management, team leadership, customer service, and the ability to adapt project plans and leadership to customer needs.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
