Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid at hirify.global HQ in El Segundo, California, United States; participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation approximately one week per month.

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Equity Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Design, build, and ship AI-powered agent features that triage alarms, assess incidents, and recommend or take actions such as escalating, dismissing, or dispatching.
• Query production data, including alarm streams, video, access-control events, and operator actions, to test hypotheses and guide product and model decisions.
• Orchestrate self-hosted and frontier models through prompt design, tool use, structured outputs, model routing, and cost and latency trade-offs.
• Deliver end-to-end features across Python inference and analysis services, Kotlin/Spring Boot/GraphQL backends, and React/TypeScript operator interfaces.
• Build evaluation loops, guardrails, human-in-the-loop controls, and observability for reliable, explainable agent decisions.
• Deploy and support AWS services using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, incident response, troubleshooting, and break-fix practices; mentor junior engineers and influence architecture.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in senior roles.
• Strong experience with at least one compiled, object-oriented language such as Rust, Kotlin, Java, C#, or C++.
• Strong proficiency with relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and query tuning.
• Experience building full-stack applications in microservice architectures and designing distributed, high-scale systems.
• Ability to work hypothesis-first with data by framing questions, writing SQL or analysis code, and drawing sound conclusions.
• Experience with modern cloud services, cloud-native development, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and reliability workflows.
• Experience with and enthusiasm for AI-native software development practices.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly, work in agile environments, and use metrics to influence decisions.
• Strong AWS experience and hands-on Terraform experience for Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience designing evaluation harnesses for non-deterministic systems, including golden datasets, LLM-as-judge, and regression testing for agent behavior.
• Experience with real-time or event-driven data such as Kinesis, Kafka, or similar.
• Experience with observability tools and performance optimization.

Nice to have

• Background in security technology or enterprise software.
• Startup experience and/or early-stage SaaS experience.
