Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Brooklyn, NY, USA; hybrid work with candidates required to live within commuting distance of the Williamsburg, Brooklyn office

Salary: $175,000–$230,000 annual base salary, plus potential equity and bonus or variable compensation

What you will do

• Work directly with customers to understand workflows, identify pain points, and translate findings into product bets.
• Partner with product and design to define what to build, form hypotheses, and design experiments that validate customer value.
• Take new product surfaces from prototype through production and drive adoption with real users.
• Build AI-native products using LLMs, agents, evaluations, retrieval, and modern AI tooling.
• Own end-to-end outcomes, including architecture, instrumentation, telemetry, and customer impact.
• Lead, mentor, and set a high technical bar for engineers working on complex projects.

Requirements

• Production experience deploying code and services to cloud-hosted environments.
• Experience delivering incremental releases from proof of concept through MVP and production.
• Experience leading engineers on complex projects and solving large, complex problems.
• Strong commitment to engineering excellence, clean code, and knowledge-sharing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms and software engineering practices; hirify.global uses Python, PySpark, AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Databricks, and Delta Lakes.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python machine learning toolsets such as NumPy, Pandas, or Dedupe.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
