Senior Solutions Architect (Datacenter)

Location: Grand Rapids or Detroit, Michigan, United States; travel up to 25%.

What you will do

• Lead consultative discovery of customer business objectives and translate requirements into datacenter solutions.
• Sell and architect compute, storage, virtualization, and cloud solutions using Dell/EMC, Pure, Cisco, VMware, Nutanix, AWS, and Azure technologies.
• Lead pre-sales activities including proposals, proofs of concept, demonstrations, roadmaps, architecture design sessions, and statements of work.
• Create functional designs, reference architectures, technical drawings, diagrams, and other client-facing deliverables.
• Design solutions addressing availability, scalability, security, and performance, and conduct customer assessments supporting design, implementation, and ongoing support.
• Collaborate with customers, sales teams, vendors, and project teams while maintaining current datacenter technology expertise and refining sales and technical activities.

Requirements

• 7+ years designing and implementing complex datacenter solutions.
• 3+ years working with mid-market and enterprise environments across multiple verticals.
• Strong experience with Cisco UCS, Dell, Pure, VMware vSphere, and Nutanix.
• Basic knowledge of core networking, IP, subnetting, routing, VPN, and DirectConnect.
• Working knowledge of relevant operating systems including Windows Server and Red Hat Linux.
• Core understanding of storage fundamentals including RAID, snapshots, deduplication, compression, encryption, SAN/NAS, NFS, and iSCSI.
• Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and whiteboarding skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations.
• Weekly back-office support with internal teams to refine sales motions and technical activities.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and/or military experience.

Nice to have

• Pre-sales experience and/or experience working with a systems integrator.
• AWS and/or Azure experience for hybrid cloud conversations.
• Basic knowledge of automation tools such as Puppet, Ansible, vRealize, and Terraform.
• Basic knowledge of container orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Basic understanding of observability tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
• Data protection experience with Commvault, Rubrik, or Cohesity.
