Software Developer (Trading Systems)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the office. Rotational weekend support may be required for extended market-hours operations.

Base salary: $86,000–$118,000 per year, plus annual bonus/commission, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and deliver secure software for a tokenized trading system supporting live US exchange operations.
• Own software delivery from development and testing through production deployment, monitoring, and ongoing support.
• Debug, maintain, and enhance applications to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Ensure compatibility across platforms and environments, including Linux-based systems.
• Analyze business and system requirements, define technical designs, and contribute to improvements with global teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–10 years of hands-on software development experience with strong Core Java and OOP proficiency.
• Working knowledge of Linux, including command-line tools, log analysis, and application or process troubleshooting.
• Practical experience with Perl, Shell scripting, or Python for automation and software development or production operations support.
• Experience with software testing and debugging, including unit and integration testing, root-cause analysis, and application performance diagnosis.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including explaining technical designs, documenting issues and resolutions, and collaborating across global teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with relational databases, particularly MySQL, including SQL queries and relational data models.
• Experience in financial services technology, especially trading systems, equities, derivatives, capital markets, or market surveillance.
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms and open-source development tools and libraries.
