Virtual Design & Construction Specialist (BIM/VDC)

Location: Germantown, MD, United States; full-time in-office role. U.S. citizenship is required for a federal contract.

Salary: $71,000–$98,000 base pay annually, with potential annual bonuses and stock ownership options.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain detailed mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural BIM models through design, construction, and project closeout.
• Produce LOD 350, LOD 400, and LOD 500 models and construction-level details for coordination, fabrication, installation, and as-built documentation.
• Create constructible MEP and structural layouts incorporating clearances, maintenance access, equipment connections, supports, sequencing, and installation constraints.
• Coordinate models, perform clash detection, track issues, facilitate multidisciplinary meetings, and resolve design and constructability challenges with engineers, contractors, owners, and project teams.
• Develop and implement BIM Execution Plans, project standards, modeling procedures, Revit content, templates, and digital delivery workflows.
• Support laser scanning, point cloud processing, scan-to-BIM, digital twin, asset data, technical training, and automation initiatives.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, BIM/CAD Technology, or a related field, or successful completion of a four-year apprenticeship in a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or fire protection trade.
• At least 2 years of experience in BIM/VDC, MEP and structural coordination, construction detailing, or related fields.
• Proficiency with BIM/VDC software, including Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and related tools for model development, coordination, clash detection, and project delivery.
• Knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, fabrication practices, and installation requirements for MEP and structural systems.
• Familiarity with laser scanning, point cloud registration, scan-to-BIM workflows, and reality capture technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with colleagues and clients at all levels.
• Advanced or proficient knowledge of Microsoft and MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• U.S. citizenship is required because the role supports a federal contract.
