Sr. SW Engineer (Full Stack) (AI)

Location: US - Austin, TX; hybrid schedule with at least 3 days in the office. Travel required 5–10% of the time.

Salary: $112,100–$173,400 USD per year; the role may also include bonus, equity, and potential sales incentive payments.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack features using React, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Spring Boot, and Node.js from requirements through production.
• Build and ship agentic AI solutions including LLM-backed services, tool-calling and multi-step agents, MCP servers and clients, RAG pipelines, prompt and context engineering, evaluation harnesses, and safety, cost, and latency guardrails.
• Design, build, and consume secure REST APIs and microservices for internal teams and external developer clients.
• Participate in system architecture, estimation, technical documentation, debugging, observability, code reviews, and production support.
• Create unit, integration, automation, and AI evaluation tests; troubleshoot defects and deploy fixes during on-call rotations.
• Mentor junior engineers, collaborate with product, design, data science, QA, operations, and compliance stakeholders, and promote responsible AI-first engineering practices.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor’s degree, or at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Hands-on professional experience building full-stack applications with Java and JavaScript, including React, Spring Boot, Node.js, relational databases such as MySQL or Postgres, and Linux.
• Hands-on experience building and shipping agentic AI solutions, including LLM APIs, tool or function calling, agent frameworks, or MCP-based integrations, with examples that can be explained in detail.
• Experience designing, building, and testing enterprise-scale web services and REST APIs.
• Ability to work across development, QA, automation testing, and production support functions and adapt to changing project and business needs.

Nice to have

• Three or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or more than two years with an advanced degree; experience in a related technology field, including at least four years where applicable.
• At least three years developing web-based or mobile applications and at least two years working on client-facing or developer-facing platforms, APIs, or technical teams.
• Advanced front-end experience with React and TypeScript, state management, component design systems, performance optimization, and accessibility.
• Advanced back-end experience with Spring Boot microservices, Spring Security, JPA/Hibernate, asynchronous and event-driven patterns, caching, and API versioning.
• Production experience with multi-step and multi-agent orchestration, MCP, RAG, vector stores, embeddings, prompt and context engineering, structured output, streaming, AI evaluation, observability, tracing, and controls for cost, latency, hallucinations, and prompt injection.
• Experience with Generative AI and AI-assisted engineering tools, microservices, Kubernetes, Docker, cloud-native architectures, CI/CD, system design, debugging, code review, test automation, and production support.
• Experience with API security, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mutual TLS, API keys, token lifecycle, rate limiting, and secure secret handling.
• Experience with Agile development, scalable and highly available systems, payments, fintech, or other regulated domains.
• Strong collaboration, facilitation, communication, planning, organization, execution, root-cause analysis, prioritization, and independent work skills; ability to document technical, implementation, and operational concepts.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers, performing code reviews, integrating feedback into designs and fixes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
