Director, Quality Engineering, Primary Care (AI)

Location: Work at Home - New York; remote position with occasional travel to hirify.global offices for training or meetings. A dedicated workspace and internet service with at least 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload are required to protect member PHI/HIPAA information.

Salary: $156,600–$215,400 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead quality engineering strategy and execution across a defined technology portfolio, domain, or segment.
• Lead and develop quality engineering managers, leads, engineers, and SDETs, including organization design, talent growth, and team performance.
• Establish quality goals, KPIs, governance, and portfolio-level risk management for release readiness, defect trends, environments, and dependencies.
• Oversee functional, integration, end-to-end, regression, release validation, performance, resiliency, operational readiness, and security testing.
• Drive automation-first practices and integrate quality signals, validation, and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.
• Modernize quality frameworks and tooling, adopt AI-enabled quality engineering capabilities, and partner with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Platform, DevOps, and enterprise quality stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, quality engineering, testing, or related technical disciplines.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing quality engineering, test automation, or software delivery teams in large enterprise environments.
• Experience leading quality engineering execution across multiple agile teams or a complex application or product portfolio.
• Demonstrated success driving quality engineering modernization, including automation, tooling, process improvement, and metrics-driven execution.
• Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with API, UI, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing approaches.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and modern application architectures.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence cross-functional leaders.
• Experience working in matrixed organizations and leading geographically distributed teams.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare or another highly regulated industry.
• Familiarity with member, provider, digital experience, or enterprise platform domains.
• Experience with enterprise quality tools, test management platforms, and engineering lifecycle tools.
• Knowledge of microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience supporting non-functional testing, including performance and resiliency.
• Exposure to AI-enabled quality engineering or intelligent automation capabilities.
• Familiarity with enterprise reference architecture principles, patterns, and standards across cloud, hybrid, on-premise, and SaaS environments.
