Director, Software Engineering (SaaS)

Location: Pleasanton, United States of America; remote work is available. Candidates within a reasonable commute to a hirify.global office work in the office at least 3 days a week.

Salary: $276,000–$345,000 per year, plus eligible short-term and long-term incentive programs and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the technical strategy and execution for Studio 360 and align its long-term vision and roadmap with product management, design, and business leaders.
• Lead frontend and backend engineers, Scrum Masters, and managers while prioritizing quality, delivery, customer needs, and organizational performance.
• Oversee platform capabilities, SaaS components, APIs, engineering tools, automated processes, and development lifecycle improvements.
• Drive best practices in architecture, code health, testing, CI/CD, maintainability, deliverability, and engineering productivity.
• Define and measure KPIs for engineering throughput, quality, predictability, flow, and velocity; partner with Technical Operations on platform availability and performance.
• Develop engineering talent through mentoring, coaching, leadership growth, performance management, and collaboration with internal and external partners.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, internal infrastructure, developer tools, or distributed computing infrastructure.
• 3+ years of direct Engineering Management or DevOps experience, including continuous builds and deployments, continuous integration, log collection and analysis, performance monitoring and tuning, and security.
• 5+ years of experience with Agile methodologies, processes, and best practices.
• 7+ years in supervisory positions directing and managing employees directly or through subordinate managers.
• Recent director-level experience overseeing software engineering in large-scale Web Applications or SaaS organizations, with significant tenure at a US product company and experience with global engineering practices.
• Excellent leadership, strategic planning, communication, mentoring, prioritization, and organizational development skills, including the ability to distinguish tactical and strategic thinking.
• Hands-on technical experience with C# preferred, C++, Java, Python, Go, or equivalent languages; previous development experience with C#, ASP.NET, Node, JavaScript, MSSQL, performance optimization, and tuning.
• At least 5 years of experience with a significant subset of HTML, CSS, XML, SOAP/REST, Node, JavaScript, IIS, MSSQL, ADFS, PowerShell, WMI, Java, Apache, Tomcat, SSL, and Go.
• Experience with distributed big data technologies and providers, Machine Learning/AI technologies and providers, clustering, load balancing, web caching, CDN or Memcached, and modern source code versioning tools such as Git or Mercurial.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Significant experience with modern open-source platforms, technologies, development methodologies, and processes.
• Proven success architecting, developing, and implementing robust distributed online solutions.
• Master’s degree in computer science or a related discipline.
• Experience guiding teams through Agile transformations.
• Experience developing on major cloud providers such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, and leading cloud transformation initiatives.
