Senior Staff SDET (AI)

Location: US - Remote

Base salary: $180K–$225K for US-based candidates; candidates outside the US receive a location-specific range from the recruiter. Equity may also be offered.

What you will do

• Own quality architecture and long-term engineering strategy for critical systems and initiatives.
• Design shared quality platforms, automation frameworks, and test infrastructure adopted across multiple teams.
• Lead AI-assisted testing strategy, including autonomous test generation, intelligent test selection, agent-based failure triage, self-healing automation, and CI/CD release decisioning.
• Build evaluation systems for AI-powered product features, including eval suites, golden datasets, LLM-as-judge scoring, statistical testing, and checks for hallucination, safety, and response stability.
• Define quality metrics, dashboards, release confidence indicators, and post-incident analysis practices while addressing reliability, scalability, and technical debt.
• Mentor senior SDETs and quality engineers, establish hiring and development standards, and partner with Engineering and Product leadership on scalable and resilient roadmap planning.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in quality engineering or SDET roles, including architecting quality strategy and automation platforms across multiple teams.
• Experience designing and scaling full-stack test automation frameworks across frontend web, mobile, and backend/API systems, using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, or Postman.
• Deep proficiency in at least one programming language, such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or Kotlin, for production-quality shared automation frameworks and tooling.
• Hands-on experience applying AI to testing, including LLM-assisted test generation, agent-based workflows, intelligent test selection, or self-healing automation.
• Experience defining quality architecture and standards, shared quality platforms, and test infrastructure that scale across many teams.
• Strong knowledge of agile or lean development, DevOps, shift-left testing, and TDD, with experience embedding quality gates into CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or Jenkins.
• Experience mentoring and developing senior quality engineers and senior technical leaders, with a record of raising the technical bar across a group or organization.
• Experience leading post-incident and root-cause analysis that drives architectural and process change.
• Excellent judgment on short-term delivery versus long-term resilience and maintainability, strong executive communication, and experience influencing Engineering and Product leadership.
• Experience with performance and load testing at scale.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with LLM observability and evaluation tools such as Braintrust, Arize, MLflow, or LangSmith.
• Experience with cloud-based testing platforms such as AWS Device Farm, Sauce Labs, or BrowserStack.
• Familiarity with e-commerce or healthcare platforms and quality-at-scale practices in regulated environments.
• Experience with internationalization and localization testing.
• Experience building quality engineering communities of practice through tech talks, katas, or lunch-and-learns.
• Published writing, talks, or open-source work on modern testing or AI in quality engineering.
• Experience building evaluation or testing infrastructure for LLM-based or ML-driven product features, including eval harnesses, LLM-as-judge scoring, or regression testing for non-deterministic systems.
