Principal Quality Engineer (AI)

Location: Atlanta, Georgia, United States; hybrid with two days in the office each week.

Salary: $115,000–$130,000 per year, plus bonus based on personal and company performance.

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of automation frameworks using Playwright and Cucumber.
• Drive automation-first testing across UI, API, integration, and regression layers.
• Own test strategy for assigned value streams and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Establish standards for test data management, mocking, service virtualization, defect triage, root-cause analysis, quality gates, and quality metrics.
• Use AI for test generation, anomaly detection, and predictive analytics, while improving test speed, stability, and observability.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Architecture, Security, and QE leadership; guide scrum teams and lead enablement sessions on Playwright, Cucumber, TypeScript, and continuous testing.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software test automation or software engineering, including at least 5+ years in a principal or lead role.
• Deep hands-on expertise with TypeScript, Playwright, Cucumber, and modern automation frameworks.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native application testing, and DevOps-aligned QA workflows.
• Experience designing automation frameworks from scratch and scaling them across teams.
• Solid understanding of performance testing, API testing, and test observability tools.
• Familiarity with Agile/SAFe practices.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.
