DevOps Engineer (GitLab/GitHub)

Location: Fully remote; no geographical preference. Occasional after-hours availability is required for platform maintenance, migrations, and incident response. Applicants must be a U.S. Person and eligible for required U.S. export authorizations.

Base salary: $160,000–$180,000 per year, excluding benefits and bonus/incentive.

What you will do

• Define and own the enterprise Git platform strategy, governance, architecture, roadmap, licensing, access controls, and repository standards.
• Lead consolidation and migration from fragmented Git platforms to an approved enterprise standard, including GitLab and GitHub administration.
• Design, build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines, reusable templates, workflow libraries, artifact integrations, and deployment workflows across development, staging, and production.
• Deploy and operate shared container registry, object storage, and centralized secrets management services with access control, retention, backup, and disaster recovery policies.
• Develop infrastructure as code and automation using Terraform and/or CloudFormation, Python, PowerShell, Bash, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Implement security scanning, audit logging, observability, alerting, compliance reporting, documentation, and cross-functional platform support.

Requirements

• Must hold and maintain an active Secret clearance upon hire.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 10–12 years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering.
• Hands-on enterprise-scale administration of both GitLab and GitHub.
• Experience designing, building, and operating CI/CD pipelines across multiple teams and environments.
• Required scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
• Experience with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps Pipelines, AWS including GovCloud, Microsoft Azure, Terraform and/or CloudFormation, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes basics.
• Experience with enterprise Git governance, branching strategies, repository management, identity and access management, and code review workflows.
• Strong communication, self-direction, enterprise tooling ownership, attention to detail, and cross-functional collaboration across engineering, security, and IT.
• Must be a U.S. Person as defined by applicable U.S. export regulations and eligible for required export authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience leading or significantly supporting a large-scale Git platform migration or consolidation.
• Experience deploying and operating Harbor or equivalent container registries, MinIO or equivalent S3-compatible object storage, and HashiCorp Vault or equivalent centralized secrets management as shared platform services.
• Experience with Jenkins or equivalent legacy CI tooling for migration work.
• GitHub Actions Certification, GitHub Administration Certification, GitLab Certified CI/CD Associate, GitLab Certified Git Associate, HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator.
