Senior Platform Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: San Francisco, California; hybrid

Base salary: $180,000–$215,000 per year, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Build a new AWS cloud foundation with accounts, Kubernetes clusters, networking, IAM, and shared services.
• Lead the initial migration of CDK-based serverless applications from Lambda and Fargate to EKS.
• Create migration patterns, Terraform/Terragrunt configurations, Helm charts, service templates, and developer portal integrations.
• Develop scalable event-driven workloads on Kubernetes and plan low-risk data-tier and API cutovers.
• Benchmark migrated services, tune resource usage, and ensure observability and SLOs meet or exceed previous standards.
• Contribute to SRE practices, developer experience, technical standards, guardrails, runbooks, and platform automation.

Requirements

• Several years of experience in platform, infrastructure, SRE, or DevOps engineering, including a production platform or architecture migration.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes on AWS, including EKS networking, security, scaling, and day-two operations.
• Solid AWS experience with Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, API Gateway, VPC networking, and IAM.
• Production experience with Terraform and working knowledge of Helm.
• Scripting and automation skills in Bash, Python, or Go, plus hands-on CI/CD and container experience.
• Clear written and verbal communication with the ability to influence technical decisions across teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS CDK, KEDA, Terragrunt, Harness, Cortex, or Backstage.
• Windows or Linux systems administration experience.
• Experience in regulated healthcare, finance, or medical-device environments with change control and audit evidence.
• Experience with monorepos or ownership of multi-quarter technical initiatives.
