DevEx Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; four days per week in the office.

Salary: $102,850–$133,100 annually, with possible annual incentive compensation and long-term equity participation.

What you will do

• Build and maintain CI pipelines in GitHub Actions and integrate them with platform deployment tooling.
• Own Helm charts and environment configuration for containerized services running on Kubernetes.
• Instrument delivery pipelines and microservices with metrics, logs, and traces.
• Define service level objectives, manage error budgets, and improve production reliability.
• Automate repeatable, reversible releases, infrastructure provisioning, incident response, and disaster recovery testing.
• Create developer tooling and document architectural decisions for a new developer experience function.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, developer experience, infrastructure, or reliability engineering.
• Experience building and operating production application services in Java or a comparable language.
• Experience with observability, including metrics, logging, tracing, alerting, and service level objectives.
• Strong Linux fundamentals and experience operating containers with Kubernetes, Nomad, or a similar orchestrator.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Python, Terraform, YAML, Docker or Podman, GitOps, shell scripting, and CI/CD integration experience.
• Incident response, disaster recovery testing, and experience with financial markets infrastructure or other regulated, latency-sensitive systems.
• Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP; PostgreSQL and SQL; AI-assisted development tooling.
• Experience establishing a platform function from scratch.
