Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer (AWS/Terraform)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid work with required on-site presence in Berlin and occasional travel to customer sites

What you will do

• Design and operate isolated, access-controlled AWS environments using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Run and harden on-premises Linux infrastructure, including GPU compute, patching, access management, audit logging, backups, and workload operations.
• Enable secure deployments in customer-operated and offline environments through reproducible builds, offline installation, and internet-independent updates.
• Implement technical controls aligned with BSI IT-Grundschutz and ISO 27001, supporting audits and certifications.
• Build logging, monitoring, and forensic readiness for incident detection, investigation, and documentation.
• Collaborate with ML, data, software, infrastructure, security, compliance, and customer IT teams.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in DevOps, platform, or systems engineering.
• Strong Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code experience, with in-depth AWS knowledge covering IAM, networking, and multi-account setups.
• Strong Linux administration skills, including system hardening and bare-metal server operations.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, networking, VPNs, firewalls, segmentation, Python, and Bash.
• Security-focused approach to least privilege, secrets management, and auditability.
• Fluent English and German; willingness to work on-site in Berlin, travel occasionally to customer sites, and undergo German security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with air-gapped or offline environments and regulated sectors such as the public sector, KRITIS, or finance.
• Private cloud experience, including OpenStack.
• Experience operating GPU servers, ML infrastructure, or workload schedulers.
• Familiarity with BSI IT-Grundschutz, ISO 27001, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• AWS or Terraform certifications.
