Senior Specialist, System Administrator (Linux)

Location: Rochester, New York, or Melbourne, Florida, United States. The role requires up to 20% offsite travel and the ability to support overtime.

Salary: $79,500–$147,500 per year in New York state.

What you will do

• Maintain, configure, troubleshoot, upgrade, patch, and secure Linux systems in secure program areas.
• Manage related NetApp storage units and engineering software tools.
• Monitor system health, resolve performance issues, and maintain system reliability, data integrity, availability, and compliance.
• Develop and maintain scripts and tools for deployment automation and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to understand program requirements and deliver tailored technical solutions.
• Lead local IT projects and communicate technical issues and strategies to management, engineering, security, and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree and at least 4 years of related experience, or at least 10 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
• At least 4 years of Linux and/or NetApp systems administration experience.
• Current and active TS/SCI security clearance and CI Polygraph.
• CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or a DoD 8570 IAT Level I or higher approved certification.
• Ability to lift equipment weighing 50 pounds.
• Ability to support up to 20% offsite travel and overtime as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with Nessus Security Center, Cisco/Ariba Network, network protocols, Windows Distributed File System, Active Directory, and Commvault or a similar backup solution.
• Experience managing systems under the NIST Risk Management Framework.
• Two years of experience with VMware or similar virtualization solutions.
• One year of experience with Ansible Automation.
• Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, NetApp storage devices, networking protocols, PowerShell or Bash, and security best practices.
