Lead Forward Deployed Engineer (AI Enablement)

Location: Remote - United States

Base salary: $194,600–$272,400 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the position offered.

What you will do

• Build AI applications, agents, skills, connectors, and workflow automations for Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Finance, and other business functions.
• Translate ambiguous business needs into AI-native workflows, technical delivery plans, and measurable success criteria.
• Integrate approved data, APIs, tools, enterprise systems, and workflow actions into safe end-to-end solutions.
• Define evaluations, review gates, human-in-the-loop controls, observability, governance, support, reversibility, and ownership for production workflows.
• Lead delivery by organizing engineering work, clarifying ownership and dependencies, establishing architecture and engineering practices, and mentoring engineers and technical leads.
• Turn successful solutions into reusable agents, skills, templates, connectors, playbooks, and platform patterns while transferring maintainable workflows to function owners.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software-building experience, including automations, workflows, AI applications, agents, or internal tools.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, production judgment, and the ability to work through ambiguous business and technical discovery.
• Experience with MCP, reusable tool integrations, and enterprise identity and access patterns.
• Experience integrating APIs, data systems, enterprise tools, and workflow actions.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying AI agents with tool use, orchestration, state, and failure handling.
• Production LLM experience with retrieval, structured outputs, evaluations, monitoring, and controls.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and product judgment through architecture decisions, reviews, mentoring, and cross-team influence.
• Ability to prioritize ambiguous opportunities and communicate technical, business, and operational tradeoffs.
• Experience creating a component, engineering practice, or architectural pattern adopted beyond the initial project, and building trust with business stakeholders through clear decisions, responsibilities, and success measures.

• Experience in applied AI, forward-deployed engineering, internal platforms, or enterprise workflow modernization.
• Experience improving engineering practices across one or multiple teams.
• Experience delivering business-critical workflows with auditability, sensitive data, or consequential automated actions.
