Head of Deployed Engineering (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA or Remote (USA)

Base salary: $240K–$390K, plus equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Lead technical deployments for large enterprise customers from scoping through production, including single-tenant and government-cloud environments.
• Write production code for AI agents, integrations, and deployment tools while solving the most complex technical problems.
• Advise CIOs, partners, and audit leaders on applying AI agents to professional workflows.
• Hire, coach, and grow a forward-deployed engineering team while setting standards through hands-on work.
• Create deployment playbooks, tools, and metrics that improve time-to-value as the company moves upmarket.
• Work with Product and Engineering to turn customer-specific solutions into reusable platform capabilities.

Requirements

• 8+ years of leadership experience in forward-deployed, deployment, solutions, or customer engineering.
• Recent experience writing production software; this is a player-coach role, not a manage-only position.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers and building teams from an early stage.
• Comfort working with senior enterprise stakeholders in regulated or complex environments.
• Strong judgment when balancing customer-specific development with platform investments.
• Interest in bringing AI agents into high-stakes professional work.

Nice to have

• Experience at a Big Four or major consulting firm.
• Knowledge of audit, accounting, risk, or compliance.
• Experience deploying LLM or agent-based systems in production.
