Engineering Intern, Buildings

Location: Hybrid, Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States; expected to join the Ann Arbor office for Summer 2027.

Salary: $20–$30 per hour.

What you will do

• Assist project teams with structural design and drawings for commercial, institutional, and residential buildings from conceptual and preliminary design through construction.
• Perform field reviews of projects under construction and visit existing buildings to document current conditions.
• Become familiar with engineering plans and details.
• Assist with computer modeling and hand calculations.

Requirements

• Be a current third-year undergraduate student or graduate student in an accredited Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering program focused on structures.
• Have completed at least one steel or concrete design class.
• Have experience with MS Word, Excel, and engineering software.
• Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Be able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Demonstrate integrity and ethical, fair, and responsible behavior.
• Show commitment to innovation, continuous learning, and acquiring new skills.

Nice to have

• Completion of both steel and concrete design classes.
• Familiarity with REVIT Structure.
• Co-op or internship experience related to commercial, institutional, or residential buildings.
