Senior Manager, Accounting & Finance

Location: Remote US. Regular working-hour overlap with North American time zones is required; Eastern or Central time zones are preferred, with flexibility for meetings in Europe. Periodic domestic or international travel may be required for company gatherings and team workweeks. Applicants must reside in the United States and have permanent US work authorization; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Salary: $165,000–$190,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Lead the finance function across accounting, financial planning and analysis, tax, treasury, and finance operations.
• Manage and develop the finance team, including the Senior Staff Accountant and Senior FP&A Analyst, with clear priorities, review practices, accountability, and career development.
• Oversee monthly and annual close, financial reporting, reconciliations, accounting policies, internal controls, payroll oversight, and revenue recognition across donations, subscriptions, enterprise arrangements, partnerships, and other revenue streams.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, scenario analysis, and management reporting that highlights trends, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions.
• Oversee tax, audit, indirect tax, VAT/GST, corporate filings, treasury, banking, cash-flow planning, investments, and external advisers.
• Strengthen finance systems, workflows, documentation, automation, partner-arrangement controls, and reporting while advising leaders and affiliated Mozilla organizations.

Requirements

• 15+ years of relevant professional experience spanning accounting, financial planning and analysis, and finance operations.
• Significant accounting or controllership experience with U.S. GAAP reporting, close processes, internal controls, revenue recognition, and complex accounting judgments.
• 5+ years of people management experience in finance or accounting, including coaching, feedback, prioritization, performance support, career development, and team development.
• Experience improving budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, financial data visualization, and translating complex information into clear recommendations for non-finance leaders.
• Experience with subscription, SaaS, digital-product, enterprise, or comparable technology-based revenue models.
• Experience with partner-led commercial arrangements such as reseller, licensing, wholesale, or revenue-sharing models, including financial-term evaluation and related reporting, reconciliation, controls, and revenue recognition.
• Working knowledge of merchant-of-record arrangements, payment platforms, indirect tax, and international VAT/GST requirements.
• Experience supporting internationally distributed organizations and coordinating financial obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience overseeing tax, audit, external finance requirements, cash management, treasury, banking, investments, and outside advisers.
• Strong judgment, communication, cross-functional collaboration, hands-on problem-solving, and the ability to explain financial risks, implications, and tradeoffs.

Nice to have

• Experience in a subsidiary, portfolio, federated, or similarly affiliated organizational structure with parent-organization or shareholder reporting.
• Experience establishing a legal entity or expanding into a new jurisdiction.
• Familiarity with Intacct, Ramp, or comparable finance and expense-management systems.
• Experience in a mission-driven, open-source, nonprofit-affiliated, or similarly values-oriented organization.
