Principal Data Engineer (Palantir)

Location: Melbourne, Florida, or Remote; many positions may require eligibility for a security clearance, which can only be granted to U.S. citizens.

Salary: $153,000–$284,000 for California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, Greater D.C., Denver, or NYC areas; $133,000–$247,000 for Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, New York State, Vermont, and Virginia.

What you will do

• Provide architectural oversight for the enterprise data platform and related initiatives, aligning solutions with standards and best practices.
• Lead design reviews covering data sourcing, pipelines, data models, and ontology resources, and provide actionable scalability feedback.
• Develop architectural artifacts, decompose requirements, and support documentation throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Oversee data pipelines for scalability, reusability, performance, and maintainability.
• Use Palantir Foundry for data integration, ontology management, and large-scale analytics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on data governance, metadata, ontology standards, platform improvements, and user training.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 12 years of prior Palantir experience, or a graduate degree and at least 10 years of prior Palantir experience; in lieu of a degree, at least 16 years of prior Palantir experience.
• At least 5 years of experience as a data architect or in a senior data engineering role, ideally supporting enterprise-scale data and analytics platforms.
• At least 4 years of experience developing data pipelines or using ETL tools such as Palantir Foundry, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or Python.
• At least 5 years of overall data integration experience with Palantir Foundry or similar data integration tools.

Nice to have

• Experience architecting Palantir Foundry platforms for generative AI capabilities, including RAG, semantic search, and LLM integration.
• Hands-on experience developing data pipelines in Palantir Foundry Pipeline Builder, Code Repository, or similar technologies using PySpark and Spark SQL.
• Experience with Foundry tools including Ontology Manager, Compass, Code Repository, Solution Designer, OSDK, AI FDE, and AIP Analyst.
• Understanding of how Foundry ontology, operational workflows, and governed data assets support AI-driven business and manufacturing solutions.
• Familiarity with SDLC processes, architecture reviews, and data governance board processes.
• Understanding of business intelligence and data warehouse development methodologies.
• Experience with Python, Pandas, Databricks, JavaScript, TypeScript, or other scripting languages.
• Experience with AI tools such as OpenAI, Palantir AIP, Snowflake Cortex, or similar.
