Lead Data Engineer (Palantir)

Location: Melbourne, Florida or remote within the United States. Many positions require the ability to obtain a security clearance, which may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

Salary: $127,000–$236,500 in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C., Denver, or NYC areas; $110,500–$205,500 in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Vermont, and Virginia.

What you will do

• Provide architectural oversight for the enterprise data platform and related initiatives.
• Lead design reviews covering data sources, pipelines, data models, and ontology resources.
• Oversee scalable, reusable, and performant data pipelines and support data integration with Palantir Foundry.
• Develop architectural artifacts, requirements decomposition, SDLC documentation, and data platform documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on data governance, metadata, and ontology standards.
• Recommend improvements based on emerging data technologies and frameworks, and support user training for the modern data platform.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 9 years of prior Palantir experience, or a graduate degree and at least 7 years of prior Palantir experience; in lieu of a degree, at least 13 years of prior Palantir experience.
• At least 4 years of experience developing data pipelines or using ETL tools such as Palantir Foundry, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or Python.
• At least 4 years of experience in data integration.

Nice to have

• Experience implementing Generative AI solutions, including RAG, semantic search, and LLM integration.
• Experience with Palantir Foundry tools including Ontology Manager, Compass, Code Repository, Solution Designer, OSDK, AI FDE, and AIP Analyst.
• Understanding of BI and data warehouse development methodologies.
• Experience with Python, Pandas, Databricks, JavaScript, TypeScript, or other scripting languages.
• Experience with OpenAI, Palantir AIP, Snowflake Cortex, or similar AI tools.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing data pipelines in Palantir Foundry Pipeline Builder, Code Repository, or similar technologies using PySpark and Spark SQL.
• Familiarity with SDLC processes, architecture reviews, or data governance board processes.
