Senior Software Engineer - Eagle Eye (Medtech)

Location: Galway, County Galway, Ireland; hybrid work indicated by #LI-hybrid.

Salary: EUR 65,600–98,400 per year. The final salary is determined by experience, skills, qualifications, and objective job-related criteria. The position is eligible for the hirify.global Incentive Plan short-term incentive.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Python data-processing services using Azure Functions to ingest, parse, and analyze SmartSync device logs at scale.
• Build and maintain Elastic Stack content on Elastic Cloud, including ingest pipelines, ECS mappings, data streams, lifecycle policies, and transforms.
• Administer and evolve the Elastic Cloud platform, including upgrades, capacity, scaling, security roles, and infrastructure as code.
• Create Kibana dashboards, alerting rules, and monitoring for data health, ingestion delays, and issue trends.
• Investigate field complaints and issues using SmartSync logs, implant session data, and device information; determine root causes and prepare evidence-based reports supporting complaint handling, CAPAs, health hazard evaluations, and FDA summary reporting.
• Automate investigations, deploy tools through Azure DevOps pipelines and Octopus Deploy, complete regulated validation and documentation, collaborate with R&D, quality, complaint-handling, and field teams, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 4 years of software engineering experience.
• Significant professional experience designing, developing, debugging, and maintaining software across the development lifecycle using Python or a comparable language.
• Experience building data pipelines or analytics on large volumes of log or event data.
• Ability to contribute to technical decisions involving data-platform design, data quality, investigation tooling, and engineering practices.
• Ability to communicate findings and confidence levels clearly to technical and non-technical audiences and collaborate in a matrixed organization.
• Ability to design scalable, accurate, complete, and timely data pipelines; evolve schemas and tools compatibly; diagnose performance, memory, and reliability issues; and apply software architecture and design principles.
• Ability to use AI tools and agents for code development, data analysis, investigation summaries, and troubleshooting while validating their outputs.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Elastic Stack, including Elasticsearch, Kibana, ingest pipelines, and transforms, ideally on Elastic Cloud.
• Experience with Elasticsearch Query DSL, ES|QL, Kibana Query Language, and Painless.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure Functions, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Kusto Query Language.
• Experience with CI/CD and release tools including Azure Pipelines, Octopus Deploy, and SonarQube.
• Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform.
• Experience investigating field software issues and performing root-cause analysis from logs and diagnostic data.
• Familiarity with complaint handling, CAPA, post-market surveillance, and TrackWise.
• Experience validating software tools used in regulated processes.
• Experience applying AI or large language models to data analysis or reporting.
• Familiarity with regulated product development and standards including ISO 13485, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, and 21 CFR 820.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, Azure DevOps, and/or GitHub.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and technical documentation skills.
