Sr. Engineer - Risk Platform (Remote, IRE) (Cybersecurity)

What you will do

• Design and develop scalable backend services for internal and customer-facing web applications, focusing on performance and reliability.
• Build command-line utilities, REST APIs, databases, real-time data pipelines, monitoring, alerting, and supporting infrastructure.
• Architect and develop risk intelligence capabilities including risk compounding, attack path analysis, and posture scoring across hybrid environments.
• Collaborate with UX/UI, Sensors, and other teams to deliver integrated solutions with comprehensive documentation.
• Maintain high availability, troubleshoot complex distributed systems, respond to incidents, and drive architectural and performance improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decisions, priorities, and product scope.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of production experience building, delivering, and maintaining large-scale distributed systems processing high-volume data.
• Advanced programming expertise in strongly typed object-oriented languages; Golang and Python are primarily used.
• Experience designing microservices, scalable REST APIs, and distributed communication patterns.
• Strong cloud infrastructure knowledge with AWS preferred, plus Azure and GCP, including provisioning, monitoring, and optimization.
• Understanding of concurrency, parallel processing, sharding, eventual consistency, caching strategies, and other distributed-systems scalability patterns.
• Kafka experience covering message design, throughput estimation, lag monitoring, and performance considerations.
• Experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, workflows, efficiency, and business outcomes.
• Experience with RDBMS/SQL, preferably PostgreSQL, and distributed caching solutions such as Redis.
• Experience troubleshooting complex distributed architectures with a focus on performance and reliability, including testing strategies, code reviews, and resilient architecture design.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decisions; strong foundations in algorithms, data structures, and system design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to have

• Machine learning or AI implementation experience.
• Elasticsearch experience for full-text search of logs and event data.
• Cassandra and CQL experience with wide-column databases.
• Graph database knowledge and experience with graph structures, including nodes, edges, and relationships.
• Cybersecurity industry experience or relevant certifications.
• Docker and Kubernetes experience.
• Open-source contributions or technical community involvement.
