Principal Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: Fully remote within the United States or hybrid from the Brooklyn, NY or Washington, DC hubs.

Salary: $250,000–$295,000 annual base salary, plus potential equity and bonus or variable compensation.

What you will do

• Drive technical decisions and reference architecture across AWS, Azure, commercial, regulated, and sovereign environments.
• Design cross-cutting platform capabilities including ingress, API gateways, authentication, authorization, SSO, RBAC, and service-to-service communication.
• Build repeatable provisioning for regions, accredited environments, and customer tenants.
• Set standards for infrastructure as code, GitOps, Kubernetes configuration, release engineering, and AI-assisted development tooling.
• Lead design reviews, RFCs, architecture forums, prototypes, and proofs of concept for complex platform initiatives.
• Partner with product, implementation, finance, security, and compliance stakeholders while mentoring engineers and supporting senior-level hiring.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building and operating cloud infrastructure and platforms, including recognized technical authority for a shared platform.
• Background in SRE or platform engineering with production experience at multi-account and multi-environment scale in AWS and/or Azure.
• Strong Infrastructure as Code skills with Terraform, OpenTofu, or similar tools.
• Deep Kubernetes experience, including cluster management, multi-cluster operations, and platform abstractions.
• Hands-on production experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux, plus programming ability in Python, Go, or similar languages.
• Understanding of regulatory and accreditation constraints, excellent written communication, and a record of influencing architecture across teams.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development and agentic coding tools.
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
