Software Developer - Team Lead

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; full-time work in the Toronto office

Base salary: $120,000–$200,000 CAD annually plus benefits

What you will do

• Lead engineering efforts for tools and systems that simplify IXL setup and integrate with school and district technology ecosystems.
• Plan projects, prepare estimates, assign work, track status, and provide project management direction.
• Drive the development process through design, coding, documentation, testing, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Collaborate across development teams and work cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and QA.
• Manage and motivate a team of engineers while maintaining and surpassing product usability and quality standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Excellent programming skills in Java or another object-oriented language.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Strong organization and time-management skills.
• Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
• Passion for improving education through technology.

Nice to have

• Experience with Postgres, SQL, and data architecture.
