Senior Category Sourcing Manager (AMER) (AI)

Location: AMER; remote-first workplace

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 USD base salary, with potential bonus, equity, and/or commission programs

What you will do

• Own end-to-end category strategies for data center infrastructure equipment and materials, focusing on CAPEX categories such as power and cooling.
• Identify, evaluate, onboard, and manage strategic OEM and equipment suppliers while building a diverse and resilient supplier base.
• Lead negotiations for master framework agreements and volume purchase agreements, optimizing total cost of ownership, quality, service levels, and risk.
• Design and execute RFx processes, including bid documents, evaluation criteria, cross-functional proposal reviews, and leadership recommendations.
• Conduct market and supplier analysis, drive cost savings and value engineering, and establish category KPIs.
• Partner with data center operations, engineering, finance, Legal, and leadership on requirements, budgets, forecasts, contracts, timelines, and procurement outcomes.

Requirements

• 6+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management.
• 2+ years of experience sourcing power and cooling equipment for data center construction, critical facilities, or large-scale industrial projects.
• Proven success negotiating complex, high-value framework agreements.
• Strong understanding of competitive bidding processes and RFx methodologies for construction and equipment procurement.
• Experience with supplier qualification, onboarding, and performance management for OEMs and equipment suppliers.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in data center environments, including construction timelines, equipment lead times, and project delivery requirements.
• Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate total cost of ownership.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Proficiency with procurement systems and tools, including e-sourcing platforms, contract management systems, and ERP.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree such as an MBA or MS in Business or Supply Chain, or professional certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, or CPM.
• Experience in hyperscale data center construction or mission-critical facility builds.
• Deep technical knowledge of medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution, backup power, and air-cooled, liquid-cooled, or evaporative cooling technologies.
• Experience with construction project procurement, equipment sequencing, and staged deliveries.
• Understanding of commissioning requirements and factory acceptance testing for critical equipment.
