Product Engineer II - Rack Integration (AI Hardware)

Location: Hybrid, 1200 Technology Way, Libertyville, Illinois, United States. Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Occasional on-site travel for rack delivery and installation may be required.

What you will do

• Design and implement integrated rack solutions from concept through installation, including rack elevations, rack-level BOMs, power and cooling analysis, and cabling designs.
• Define installation and integration steps, cable maps, routing plans, labeling standards, runbooks, work instructions, and complete rack design documentation.
• Collaborate with Product Engineering, Sales Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, System Verification, production teams, vendors, customers, and client-facing teams on quoting, scoping, design, and delivery.
• Support production builds, resolve mechanical, routing, hardware, firmware, and software compatibility issues, and drive continuous improvement.
• Support on-site rack delivery and installation, including site readiness checks, layout verification, and hand-off documentation.
• Manage product and BOM revision control, participate in new solution launches, respond to advanced customer technical inquiries, and mentor other Product Engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and designing computer components into custom-built systems.
• 5+ years of experience building and designing enterprise-level networking, compute, and storage systems.
• 5+ years of experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
• 5+ years of experience creating and maintaining bills of materials.
• 5+ years of experience configuring Dell, Supermicro, HPE, Lenovo, and whitebox systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Expertise with enterprise compute, storage, networking, PDU and rack hardware, power, air and liquid cooling, build methodologies, cabling, connectivity, and build standards.
• Expertise with x86 and ARM architectures, server hardware components, computer standards, engineering change management, PLM, EOL processes, risk management, and NPI.
• Expertise with enterprise Gen AI use cases and hardware for inference and training; knowledge of quality control and computer assembly methods.
• Ability to gather and document customer requirements, collaborate with customers and external vendors, solve problems, plan, organize, make decisions under pressure, and produce accurate technical documentation.
