Hardware Program Manager (AI)

Location: New York, NY; hybrid workplace. The role requires travel to factories in Asia and hotel properties across the US, EMEA, and Asia, with approximately 25% travel expected during the first six months. Candidates must live in New York City or be willing to relocate.

Target cash compensation: $175,000–$210,000 annually, including fixed salary and a performance-based quarterly bonus. Stock options are also included, subject to board approval.

What you will do

• Own the self check-in kiosk from initial specification through production, hotel deployment, and field support.
• Write product specifications, select external design consultants and factories, and review and approve hardware designs.
• Perform hands-on hardware review during the first year and build the hardware team as the function grows.
• Integrate unattended payment terminals, including terminal selection, DUKPT/P2PE key injection, enclosure installation within PCI PTS limits, and gateway or PSP certification.
• Build the fulfillment pipeline covering freight, customs, duty, warehousing, staging, kitting, serial numbers, and last-mile delivery.
• Manage spare parts and returns for kiosks that fail in the field.

Requirements

• Experience taking a complete hardware product from initial specification to units in the field at a small company.
• Hands-on experience designing and building hardware products rather than purchasing finished terminals.
• Substantial personal hardware work within the last six months, including knowledge of industrial, mechanical, and electrical design sufficient to identify errors in external designs.
• Experience managing design consultants or factories, including rejecting incorrect designs.
• Must live in New York City or be willing to relocate.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating unattended payment terminals and completing key injection and gateway or PSP certification.
• Experience managing freight, customs, duty, warehousing, pre-shipment staging, delivery, installation, spare parts, and returns.
