Mechanical Engineer (AI Hardware)

Location: On-site in San Jose, United States. The role is fully in-person; relocation support is available for candidates moving to San Jose.

Base salary: $150K–$350K, plus equity.

What you will do

• Develop and refine mechanical designs for high-power data center products from appearance models through production-ready designs.
• Design data center chassis and enclosures from concept through production, focusing on power, cooling efficiency, ruggedness, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with internal design teams, external design engineers, and JDM partners to integrate mechanical designs with the overall product architecture.
• Manage soft and hard tooling development for mass production and ensure quality and consistency.
• Apply DFM principles to optimize manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and production costs.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturing requirements, including shock and vibration standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 10 years of mechanical engineering experience focused on high-power data center products, including designing and managing data center chassis and enclosures.
• Strong mechanical design and engineering expertise, including hands-on experience converting industrial design concepts into production-ready models.
• Extensive experience with data center chassis design and high-power and cooling requirements.
• Proficiency with mechanical CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, FX, CATIA, or similar.
• Deep understanding of soft and hard tooling processes and their impact on product design and production.
• Familiarity with manufacturing requirements and standards, including shock and vibration testing.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.

• Advanced degrees or certifications in mechanical design or manufacturing.
