Manager, Software Engineering - External Platform (AI)

Location: New York City hub or remote from the East Coast of the United States; Canada is also listed as an available location. In-person onboarding is required.

Annual base salary: $258,000–$376,000 USD.

A product company building a collaborative design platform that supports prototyping, design-to-code workflows, real-time teamwork, and AI-powered product development.

What you will do

• Lead, grow, and support a team building foundational infrastructure for AI products.
• Define technical strategy and manage day-to-day project execution with customers, engineering leaders, and product leaders.
• Hire, coach, and develop senior and staff engineers while scaling the team.
• Engage deeply with technical decisions to deliver a robust AI platform with urgency.
• Build an inclusive team and culture through team-building and hiring practices.

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering management experience leading high-performing, fast-moving teams.
• 8+ years of total engineering experience, ideally reaching staff engineering level as an individual contributor.
• Experience managing platform teams with a focus on reliability and extensibility.
• A proven track record of motivating, mentoring, and growing experienced engineering leads.
• Experience building and scaling engineering teams and organizational structure as they grow.

Nice to have

• Experience in the AI platform space.
• Experience with MCP infrastructure and integrations.
• Experience with LLMs and AI gateways.
• Background in adjacent infrastructure domains.
