Director, Engineering, Platform/Services

Location: Remote within the United States or Canada

Salary: $216,500–$318,500 USD for US-based candidates; 251,000–295,000 CAD for Canada-based candidates

What you will do

• Lead engineering teams responsible for location and messaging, cloud infrastructure, identity, and partner platforms.
• Set technical direction, modernize legacy systems, and anticipate architectural bottlenecks and scaling risks.
• Establish standards for availability, performance, observability, security, and incident response.
• Build reusable services, APIs, and secure integrations that help product teams and partners deliver faster.
• Hire, coach, and develop engineering managers, staff engineers, and technical leaders.
• Partner with Product, Security, Data, and Engineering leaders to connect technical investments with business outcomes.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience and 5+ years leading engineering teams, including experience managing managers.
• Experience leading backend or platform engineering for distributed systems serving millions of users.
• Hands-on technical credibility in cloud infrastructure and distributed systems; AWS experience is preferred.
• Experience developing managers, translating company strategy into technical plans, and resolving cross-functional priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

• B2B or B2C platform experience.
• Experience modernizing legacy systems while balancing reliability, scalability, cost, and speed.
