Engineering Manager, Claude Platform (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY. Hybrid policy requires staff to work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time; some roles may require more office time. Preference is given to candidates based in New York, Seattle, San Francisco, or the Bay Area.

Annual salary: $405,000–$485,000 USD

What you will do

• Lead an engineering team responsible for planning, prioritization, delivery, and operational health.
• Build APIs, SDKs, documentation, developer tools, and infrastructure for running agents in production.
• Partner with Product and customers to shape the roadmap around developer needs.
• Guide API design and architecture for distributed systems that remain reliable as usage scales.
• Collaborate with Research, Safeguards, Security, and go-to-market teams to deliver model capabilities safely.
• Recruit, coach, and develop high-performing engineers.

Requirements

• Experience managing high-performing software engineering teams that ship developer products.
• Experience with hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Experience building and scaling distributed systems in production, with technical depth in architecture and API design.
• Product-minded, customer-oriented approach and experience shaping roadmaps with product partners.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration, communication, and team alignment skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or professional experience in a relevant field.

Nice to have

• Experience building agent infrastructure or products on top of large language models.
• Experience with identity, verification, access control, or trust and safety systems.
