Vice President, Primary Investments

Location: Boston, United States; hybrid arrangement with a minimum of four days per week in the Boston office, 18 remote workdays per quarter subject to manager approval, and occasional business travel.

Base salary: $200,000–$210,000 USD annually, plus eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus and potential long-term reward programs.

What you will do

• Own and drive investment processes, including manager due diligence, underwriting, oversight, investment memo and presentation preparation, referencing, investment committee discussions, legal negotiation, and closing.
• Source new Private Equity, Growth Equity, and Venture Capital investment opportunities and build relationships with new and existing General Partners.
• Identify opportunities for cross-platform partnerships and represent HarbourVest with General Partners and Limited Partners.
• Monitor partnership investments through LPAC meetings, Annual Meetings, and regular updates with General Partners.
• Support client service through materials preparation and meeting participation.
• Mentor and support junior team members.

Requirements

• 5–10+ years of experience in private equity, investments, or an investment advisory position preferred.
• Strong investment analysis and manager due diligence skills, including experience leading manager due diligence processes.
• Experience sourcing, evaluating, managing, and monitoring investment portfolios.
• Deep experience in Excel and strong quantitative skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills, including communication with senior leaders, General Partners, and clients.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across teams.
• Leadership ability to drive projects and motivate team members.
• B.A. or B.S. degree preferred.
• MBA or comparable experience preferred.
