Layout Designer - Drawing Coordination (CAD)

Salary: $51,400.00–$79,200.00 per year

Pierce Manufacturing, an Oshkosh company, designs and builds customized fire apparatus including pumpers, aerials, tankers, and rescue units.

What you will do

• Create 2D and 3D layouts for new fire apparatus configurations using CAD systems and existing design content.
• Configure and visualize customer proposals based on Pulse order specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering and order management teams to resolve specification conflicts and develop layouts suited to customer mission profiles.
• Maintain ownership of layout drawings from initial bids and drawing creation through manufacturing, including required revisions.
• Self-check drawings for accuracy through multiple stage-gates.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent, plus two years of drafting or design experience.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Self-starter with problem-solving ability.
• Effective communication skills for working as part of a multifunctional team.
• Detail-oriented and customer-focused approach.
• Ability to use or work with CAD systems and design tools including Medusa V6.3, CATIA V5, WindChill, JDE 9.2, Pulse, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice to have

• Previous drafting or design experience.
• Experience with sales drawings and custom products.
• Prioritization and time-management skills when handling multiple demands on fixed timelines.
• Ability to research and extrapolate data from available resources and apply it to new designs.
