Director, Corporate Controller (Space Technology)

Location: Austin, TX; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

What you will do

• Oversee accounting teams and subordinate leaders responsible for general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, and accounting operations.
• Set functional priorities, operating plans, resource requirements, performance expectations, and corporate accounting strategy.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, consolidations, intercompany eliminations, financial statement preparation, disclosures, and management reporting packages.
• Establish accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and documentation practices consistent with GAAP or IFRS.
• Evaluate complex accounting matters, financial results, reporting issues, control risks, and appropriate accounting treatment.
• Manage internal and external audits and ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, SEC reporting, and SOX requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field with 11–15 years of related experience; alternatively, a master’s degree with 9–12 years or a PhD with 7–10 years of related experience.
• 5+ years of leadership or management experience leading finance, accounting, tax, internal controls, or business systems professionals.
• Experience serving as a corporate controller or in an equivalent capacity, including consolidated financial reporting, books-and-records integrity, technical accounting, and internal control over financial reporting.
• Expert knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, financial close, account reconciliation, GAAP or IFRS, accounting policies, and financial statement preparation.
• Comprehensive knowledge of internal controls, audit requirements, financial documentation, account analysis, and accounting compliance.
• Extensive experience evaluating complex accounting transactions, financial results, balance sheet activity, reporting issues, and accounting treatment.
• Strategic understanding of accounting operations, financial systems, process automation, control environments, and organizational reporting requirements, with sound judgment in evaluating accounting and audit matters.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
• Experience with ERP, general ledger, and financial accounting applications such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent; close, reconciliation, and consolidation applications such as FloQast or OneStream; and reporting, business intelligence, automation, and data analysis applications such as Power BI or Tableau.
