Senior Accountant (Nuclear Energy)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; work is centered at a 322,000-square-foot facility in the Los Angeles area.

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 per year, plus equity.

hirify.global is a Series C advanced nuclear energy startup developing mass-producible microreactors for terrestrial, underwater, and space applications, with manufacturing and commercial deployment supported by government and commercial contracts.

What you will do

• Own key areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and variance analysis.
• Maintain general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, prepare balance sheet reconciliations, and support financial statement and management reporting.
• Support GAAP financial statements, annual audits, tax filings, compliance activities, and work with external auditors and advisors.
• Develop and document accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and scalable close processes.
• Support government contract accounting, including project costs, labor, indirect costs, billing, and compliance.
• Build manufacturing, inventory, fixed asset, WIP, capitalization, overhead allocation, cost accounting, technical accounting, ERP, and automation processes as the company scales.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting or audit experience in public accounting, industry, or a combination of both.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
• Experience owning components of a monthly close, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience preparing or supporting financial statements and financial statement audits.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to understand transaction flows through financial statements, and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• 2–4 years of accounting or audit experience, Big 4 or other public accounting experience, and CPA certification or progress toward CPA certification.
• Experience at a high-growth, venture-backed company or in aerospace, defense, nuclear, manufacturing, or another hard-tech industry.
• Experience with manufacturing, inventory, fixed assets, cost accounting, government contracting, DCAA compliance, FAR/DFARS, or government grant accounting.
• Knowledge of ASC 606, ASC 842, and ASC 718.
• Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, another ERP or accounting system, Ramp, or similar AP and expense-management platforms.
• Experience implementing or improving accounting systems, processes, and internal controls, and interest in technology and automation.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large and complex datasets.
