In-Home Special Education Tutor

Location: In-person, in-home tutoring in Moreno Valley, Los Angeles, Inglewood, Santa Monica, Daly City, or San Mateo, California, United States. Reliable commuting to client homes in the local area is required.

Compensation: $25–$35 per hour, with premium rates based on experience, credentials, and performance.

What you will do

• Deliver engaging 1:1 tutoring sessions tailored to students with special education needs.
• Review, understand, and implement lesson plans and strategies aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
• Adapt academic materials, assessments, and teaching modalities to each student’s learning profile.
• Track and document student progress, adjusting instructional methods to support growth.
• Communicate with parents, guardians, classroom teachers, and specialized school teams where applicable.
• Provide a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment supporting emotional, behavioral, and academic development.

Requirements

• Ability to reliably commute to client homes in the local area.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, or holding an AA, BA, or higher degree.
• Proven tutoring or teaching experience.
• Strong communication skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to make learning interactive and student-focused.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

Nice to have

• Degree in Education, Special Education, or Psychology.
• Experience working with students with special needs, learning differences, and behavioral accommodations.
• Fluency in Spanish.
