TL;DR
NERC Compliance Engineer (Power Systems): Supporting NERC compliance for battery energy storage, solar, and wind generating facilities with an accent on PRC, FAC, and MOD standards, IBR performance, and audit-ready technical evidence. Focus on coordinating engineering evaluations, interpreting power-system modeling outputs, managing ISO/TOP requests, and supporting ride-through and disturbance-event compliance without performing modeling directly.
Location: Hybrid, primarily office-based in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States; in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with occasional travel to generating sites of no more than 10%.
Salary: $105,000–$127,000 USD annually, plus eligibility for an annual cash bonus.
Company
hirify.global develops and operates clean-energy generation assets, including wind, solar, and battery energy storage facilities, along with conventional dispatchable power generation.
What you will do
Act as the primary technical liaison between Electrical Regulatory Compliance and Power Systems Engineering, translating NERC requirements into engineering actions and maintaining audit-ready evidence.
Manage the technical compliance lifecycle for NERC PRC, FAC, and MOD standards related to plant design and performance, including standards for inverter-based resources.
Coordinate engineering evaluations involving protection settings, ride-through performance, plant capability, reactive power, and power-system modeling outputs from PSS/E, PSLF, and PSCAD; modeling is not performed directly in this role.
Partner with plant operations, asset management, project engineering, and external stakeholders on design, commissioning, operations, audits, RFIs, self-certifications, self-reports, and mitigation plans.
Support ISO, Transmission Operator, and NERC Regional Entity engagements, including Texas RE, CAISO, and ISO-NE.
Maintain technical documentation, evidence, deadlines, filing requirements, evaluation schedules, and status reporting for Operations Engineering and ERC leadership.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline.
At least five years of relevant experience in power generation, transmission, or distribution.
Strong understanding of electrical power management and distribution, including reactive power and load-flow analysis concepts.
Working understanding of power-system modeling concepts and tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, and PSCAD, sufficient to interpret engineering outputs and coordinate with Engineering; direct modeling is not required for this role.
Familiarity with inverter-based resource technology and performance characteristics across solar, wind, and battery energy storage.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, technical manuals, and test reports.
Ability to function effectively as a team member and/or leader, maintain professional relationships with owners, customers, and external contractors, and communicate technical details to non-technical audiences.
Availability to work flexible hours as business needs require.
Nice to have
Prior experience with NERC Reliability Standards compliance.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
