Salary: $117,708.85–$159,253.15 annually

What you will do

• Drive EHSS performance and proactive process improvements in a research and development laboratory environment.
• Support research and development departments through EHSS culture change, training, risk reviews, incident investigations, and laboratory-specific change controls.
• Conduct laboratory risk assessments, identify hazards, verify employee training, and ensure appropriate engineering controls are in place.
• Own or provide subject-matter expertise for industrial safety compliance programs, including LOTO, hot work, machine guarding, dock safety, and change control.
• Analyze incidents and hazards, lead or support Human Performance, incident investigation, and root cause analysis for complex or high-hazard incidents.
• Develop safe work procedures, metrics, action plans, emergency response activities, and recommendations for management while collaborating with Engineering, Project Managers, Business Continuity, Facilities, and EHSS global teams.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree, or a master’s degree and 2 years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience, or an associate’s degree and 8 years of experience, or a high school diploma/GED and 10 years of experience.

Nice to have

• Degree in chemical engineering, engineering, chemistry, biology, another science area, environmental studies, safety, or industrial hygiene.
• Experience developing and implementing EHS risk management programs in chemical and biological laboratory operations.
• Strong understanding of chemical and biological laboratory operations.
• Experience managing industrial safety and change control programs.
• Familiarity with risks and controls related to high-potency compounds and explosive atmospheres.
• Knowledge of EHS principles, practices, regulatory standards, and requirements in business contexts.
• Leadership, communication, program development, and project management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, Teams, AI, and other computer software systems.
