Automation Project Manager

Location: Irapuato Plant, La Soledad, Guanajuato, Mexico; on-site during standard working hours.

What you will do

• Lead capital projects from scope definition and planning through implementation, handover, and closeout in line with Capital System Management standards.
• Prepare cost estimates, funding requests, approvals, project documentation, and capital budgets and forecasts for savings, facilities, utilities, sustainability, efficiency, and automation programs.
• Supervise contractors and coordinate with technical leaders, program managers, technology streams, tech hubs, launch teams, and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage project risks, resources, change approvals, and communications across cross-functional teams.
• Promote continuous improvement, cost efficiency, safety, compliance, and project management capability.
• Pursue at least an intermediate project management certification within 12–18 months in the role.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• Entry-level profile: prior experience in the role is not required; relevant internships, academic projects, or extracurricular experience are optional.
• Foundational knowledge of engineering, manufacturing, automation, or a related field gained through education, academic projects, internships, or equivalent experience.
• Basic analytical and problem-solving skills, with an interest in developing project planning, cost estimation, risk management, and capital project execution capabilities.
• Ability to organize information and prepare clear documentation using standard digital tools.
• Decisive problem-solving and sound judgment under pressure.
• Clear communication, collaboration, and negotiation across teams.
• Adaptability, discipline, and ability to coach and develop others.
• Familiarity with project management or manufacturing systems is not required; training is provided.

Nice to have

• IWS and loss elimination experience.
• Internship, academic project, or other exposure to automation, manufacturing, equipment installation, or project management.
• Familiarity with cost analysis, capital projects, IWS, or loss elimination.
• Project management certification or experience with EWP, Veeva, or GSUM+.
