Lead Platform Engineer

Location: Dallas, TX, United States; remote work model may apply depending on the position; #LI-HYBRID.

Targeted hiring base pay: $132,000–$175,000 per year, with possible variable pay and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the technical design, implementation, operation, and evolution of complex platform capabilities in greenfield and existing systems.
• Build developer-facing APIs, SDKs, CLIs, reusable module frameworks, managed platform services, and abstractions for data products, applications, and AI-powered tools.
• Design secure distributed systems across isolated AWS accounts and multi-tenant environments, including provisioning, lifecycle automation, service discovery, reconciliation, health monitoring, and event-driven processing.
• Implement security-critical capabilities including authenticated service-to-service communication, mTLS, cryptographic signing and verification, replay protection, IAM, least-privilege access, and tenant isolation.
• Establish architecture, interface, data-contract, testing, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and release standards; author and review technical designs and ADRs.
• Own production reliability through SLOs, metrics, logging, tracing, on-call support, incident investigation, automated testing, CI, and resilient deployment practices; mentor engineers and integrate LLMs, AI agents, managed AI services, and AI-assisted development tools.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production distributed systems.
• Experience independently owning complex software components throughout their lifecycle, leading technical initiatives, making architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and guiding work from design through production.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
• Deep AWS cloud-native architecture expertise covering IAM, serverless compute, API layers, managed data stores, event-driven services, and cloud security primitives.
• Strong knowledge of distributed-systems fundamentals including idempotency, at-least-once delivery, eventual consistency, retries, backoff strategies, failure-mode analysis, and resilient service interactions.
• Experience designing, developing, and operating secure, reliable, scalable distributed applications; hands-on Terraform infrastructure-as-code experience; and disciplined CI, automated testing, build, and deployment practices.
• Applied security engineering experience with authenticated service-to-service communication, mTLS, cryptographic signing and verification, identity management, replay protection, least-privilege access, and multi-tenant isolation.
• Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js or the ability to become productive with these technologies quickly; expert experience developing RESTful APIs with Node.js and consuming REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Academic or professional exposure to React, Angular, or Vue; Node.js or Python; and SQL/database technologies such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or equivalent. Journeyman-level Git knowledge is required.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools, coding assistants, agentic tooling, AI-augmented platform capabilities, LLM and AI-agent integrations, managed AI services, and modular AI-enabled functionality.
• Strong technical problem-solving, architectural evaluation, communication, constructive feedback, mentoring, and commitment to secure, reliable, observable, reusable solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms, cross-account control planes, internal developer platforms, SDKs, developer ergonomics, or greenfield platform environments.
• OpenTelemetry or other observability technologies; schema-driven interface validation; multi-cloud architectures; and module frameworks for authenticated dispatch, signing, validation, metrics, and reconciliation.
• Experience with TypeScript/Node.js, Python, containers, Terraform, and modern AWS cloud-native services.
• Experience applying trunk-based development, ADR-driven design, immutable or pinned releases, least-privilege access, and schema-validated interfaces.
• Background in operational or data-intensive industries such as energy, logistics, weather, or agriculture.
