Technology Designer (Low-Voltage Technology Systems)

Location: Addison/Dallas, Texas, United States; starts in-office and transitions to hybrid with experience. Occasional regional travel may be required, up to 10%.

Salary: $75,000 USD per year, with performance-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Assist with planning, designing, and documenting low-voltage technology systems for new construction and renovation projects.
• Support structured cabling, telecommunications, access control, video surveillance, wireless networking, and related technology systems.
• Participate in client meetings and project discussions to gather requirements and design criteria.
• Prepare design drawings, specifications, calculations, technology narratives, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate technology requirements with architects, engineers, owners, contractors, and other design team members.
• Perform site surveys, support construction administration, review contractor submittals, respond to RFIs, and participate in site observations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
• 0–3 years of experience in technology consulting, engineering, construction, telecommunications, security systems, IT infrastructure, or a related field.
• Strong interest in low-voltage building systems and technology design, with a basic understanding of telecommunications, structured cabling, networking, security systems, or related disciplines.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with or willingness to learn AutoCAD and Revit.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work effectively independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Nice to have

• Internship, co-op, or project experience in telecommunications, IT systems, security systems, or engineering consulting.
• Exposure to access control, video surveillance/CCTV, or intercom systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or similar design software.
• Basic understanding of IP addressing, switching, and wireless communications.
• Interest in pursuing RCDD, CTS, or security-related certifications.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
